A bad data cable? I finally swapped out the data cable on the 250G drive and she fired up and is purring like a kitten. Perhaps the drive is fine and the cable was the culprit the entire time.
Reminds me of the time we had trouble with our VW van. It was never quite the same problem twice. One day it wouldn't start. Next day it wouldn't keep running. It would be fine for a couple days, then wouldn't even crank. We replaced the battery, checked the starter, even thought it might be a bad flywheel. Turned out to be a bad negative battery cable. Go figure.
