It's Not The Money, It's Not Even The Principle, It's... What Is It, Exactly?

Recently, I've come to learn of two different lawsuits, complaints, whatever you want to call them, and I have NO idea where they're going or why they're going there.

Lawsuit number one, an obese woman is pissed at her doctor for telling her she's obese and needs to lose weight. According to the article I saw, the doctor is quoted as saying, "I told her, 'You need to get on a program, join a group of like-minded people and peel off the weight that is going to kill you.' "

I'll concede that maybe the words he used and the way he used them were insensitive and offensive. I could go off about it being his job but this opinion article covers it pretty well. What I don't understand is that the doctor wrote a letter of apology and it's still not good enough. The question is, what does she want?

Situation number two involves a Muslim employee of Burger King in the UK. Aparently, the ice cream cones across the pond have a lid on them. On this lid, BK placed a design that resembles a swirled cone. It also, according to the employee, resembles the Arabic inscription for Allah and he has branded it sacrilegious. (for a comparison, check out this article)

In response, BK has withdrawn the cones and is spending thousands of pounds to redesign the lid. They have even enlisted the assistance of The Muslim Council of Britain to make sure they don't make a similar mistake. The company even apologized for the inadvertent resemblance to the religious symbol. A Muslim Council spokesman said: "We commend the sensitive and prompt action that Burger King has taken."

But that doesn't seem to be good enough. The employee has called on Muslims to boycott Burger King saying, "This is my jihad."

Dude, whoever designed the lid made a mistake. The resemblance to the inscription for Allah was unfortunate but coincidental. The company made an immediate response and an immediate apology and even has the "blessing" of the Muslim Council. The question is, what does he want?

I just don't get it.
