A Note to People in Service Industries

Hey, you! You who fixes my car. You who repairs my copier. You who fixes my computer, my watch, my plumbing, my lights... yeah, YOU!

When I tell you that I want an estimate before repairs are done, I expect you... no I DEMAND that you contact me before the repairs are done to tell me approximately how much it will cost. Don't fix it and then tell me that it will cost $175.00 for work done. If you do that, and I'm not particularly attached to that piece of equipment, you might just have a freshly repaired widget on your hands.
