I started this thing on July 4, 2003 after hearing Wil Wheaton at Trek Expo read some excerpts from his blog that he had published into a book. I had been into journaling off-and-on but had never stuck with it because I often wrote for an audience and my pen and paper had none.

- July 8: June Allyson, prolific actress.
- July 11: Barnard Hughes, known for playing Grandpa in The Lost Boys ("One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach, all the damn vampires."), Father Maurice in Sister Act 2 ("We haven't got the balls for that.") and the communication tower in Tron. - pic
- July 12: I put together a new computer and was enjoying playing Doom 3.
- July 13: Red Buttons, who played in the original Poseidon Adventure and most recently appeared as Jules 'Ruby' Rubadoux on ER.

- July 17: Mickey Spillane, American author, creator of Mike Hammer detective fiction.
- July 19: Jack Warden, lovable Saul from While you Were Sleeping.
- July 21: J. Madison Wright Morris, who played True Danziger on Earth 2, died of a heart attack at the age of 21. - pic
- July 21: Mako, Japanese-American film, television, and Broadway actor. The voice of Master Splinter in TMNT.
- July 25: Carl Brashear, first black US Navy diver, portrayed by Cuba Gooding Jr. in the film Men of Honor.
- July 27: I lamented long install times.
- August 1: Bob Thaves, cartoonist, created and illustrated Frank and Ernest.
- August 11: Mike Douglas, American talk-show host and entertainer.
- August 13: Voice talent for countless video games and animated feature, including the voice of The Rugrats' Dr. Lipschitz, Tony Jay.
- August 14: Character actor Bruno Kirby, played Ed in City Slickers, Jess in When Harry Met Sally and 2nd Lt. Steven Hauk in Good Morning Vietnam, among others. He was 57.
- August 21: Work started to intrude further into my personal life and I was way too optimistic about being able to hire more help.
- August 23: Jazz musician Maynard Ferguson.
- August 24: Pluto lost its status as a planet.
- August 27: Maria Esther de Capovilla, 116, world's oldest person and the last person known to have been alive in the 1880s.
- August 30: Glenn Ford, Jonathan Kent of the first Superman Movie.
- September 4: In a bizarre incident, Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter, is killed when the barb from a stingray pierces his heart.

- September 19: Josh Crouch, 24, actor (Dawson's Creek, Darktales), hit-and-run.
- September 20: I ran into my High School history teacher.
- September 22: Character actor Edward Albert, son of actor Eddie Albert of Green Acres fame.
- September 26: Golfer Byron Nelson.
- September 27: I mouthed off about wait staff wanting to impose a mandatory 20% tip. I'm still torqued about this one.
- October 5: We went to the Tulsa Fair, took in a Rick Springfield concert and touched a white tiger.
- October 18: I discovered that the Word plugin for Blogger SUCKS!
- October 20: Jane Wyatt, Amanda, the mother of Mr. Spock on Star Trek.
- October 21: We arrived at our condo in Winter Park, CO. (that may be the last time we do that)
- October 22: We discovered a hidden gem of a restaurant in Winter Park.
- October 25: We took some time to explore Vale and Colorado Springs, CO.
- October 26: It snowed... a LOT!
- November 9: 60 Minutes correspondent Ed Bradley.
- November 9: Little did I know...
- November 10: Jack Palance, tough guy Curly in City Slickers who also played Kaleel in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and famous for his one-armed push-ups at the Academy Awards.
- November 10: R&B artist Gerald Levert - wrote and produced songs for artists such as Barry White, Stephanie Mills, Teddy Pendergrass, James Ingram, The Winans and The O'Jays.
- November 21: Film director Robert Altman (M*A*S*H, Dr. T. and the Women, A Prarie Home Companion)

- December 1: Voice of Baby Huey and Heckle and Jeckle, Sid Raymond.
- December 1: Lotsa Snow (this time in Oklahoma)
- December 5: We took in a new member of our family, Miss Anabelle.
- December 12: Peter Boyle, known to one generation as The Monster from Young Frankenstein and another as Frank, Raymond's father, from Everybody Loves Raymond.
- December 14: Mike Evans, best known as Lionel Jefferson on the television series The Jeffersons.
- December 18: Animator Joseph Barbera, half of the Hannah-Barbera team that brought us The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby Doo, and many many other favorites.
- December 18: I bragged about my new TV I won at the company Christmas party.
- December 23: Charlie Drake, British comedian, actor and singer (My Boomerang Won't Come Back).
- December 25: The hardest working man in show business, James Brown. Wrote and performed "Living In America" for Rocky IV.
- December 25: I tried to get my head straight about Christmas.
- December 26: Former U.S. President Gerald Ford.
- December 30: Sadam Hussein, Iraqi dictator, is put to death by hanging after one of the most surreal trials in recent memory. The execution is secretly recorded on a cell phone and leaked to the internet.

- January 8: Lilly Munster herself, Yvonne De Carlo.
- January 16: Barney Miller's uniformed officer Carl Levitt and veteran of Mel Brooks movies, Ron Carey.
- January 31: Lee Bergere, played Abraham Lincoln in an episode of Star Trek.
- February 5: I learned that Western Digital SATA hard drives make music when they die.
- February 15: The voice of the Transformers' Inferno and Freddy the talking flute from H.R. Puffnstuff, Walker Edmiston.
- February 19: I held back my bitterness in expressing my joy at the resignation of David J. Schmidly as President of Oklahoma State University.
- March 2: I lost my job.
- March 3: I tried to keep it in perspective.
- March 12: I accepted a new job I was offered five days later.
- March 13: I discovered Blogger Labels.
- March 16: I started listening to podcasts and quit the new job before I ever started it.
- March 19: Calvert DeForest, better known as Larry "Bud" Melman from the David Letterman Show.
- March 25: We were well into packing for our move to Boise, ID.
- March 27: With little time for blogging.
- March 30: The stress of packing 17 years of stuff in two weeks for a cross-country move started to take its toll.
- April 2: We didn't get all of it packed (and STILL don't have all of it out of the house)
- April 5: We made it to Boise, ID!
- April 7: I learned a thing or two about interstate moves and dealing with the truck driver (he was a real prick!)
- April 11: Roscoe Lee Brown, Character actor who played Saunders on Soap, was the voice of Spiderman's Kingpin, and was the voice of Box, the freeze-happy robot in Logan's Run ("Fish... plankton... sea greens and protein from the sea.")
- April 12: We started settling in.
- April 14: Mr. "Tiny Bubbles" himself, Don Ho.
- April 16: I faced off against our property manager. (Fire! Do you understand the word FIRE!!??)
- April 21: I headed back to Oklahoma to finish packing the house (didn't quite get the job done)

- April 28: Tommy Newsom, musician from The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
- April 29: That's all I can do for now.
- April 30: Gordon Scott, portrayed Tarzan in six films (1955–1960)
- April 30: Sad-faced actor Tom Poston, Played George Utley on Newhart, Mr. Bickley on Mork & Mindy, and Floyd Norton on Grace Under Fire.
- May 3: Wally Schirra, American Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo astronaut.
- May 3: Does it usually snow this time of year?
- May 4: I celebrated my 40th birthday!
- May 15: Jerry Falwell, television evangelist and founder of the Moral Majority.
- May 18: Les Schwab, American tire tycoon. (I include this only because Les Schwab Tires stores are prevalent here in Boise)
- May 20: Ben Weisman, musician and songwriter who wrote nearly 60 songs for Elvis Presley.
- May 21: New espresso machine... mmmmm
- May 22: Art Stevens, director, animator and writer (The Fox and the Hound). With him dies another piece of animation history.
- May 25: Charles Nelson Reilly, Tony-winning actor and Match Game panelist.
- May 28: There oughta be a law!
- June 1: Pamela Low, 79, American flavorist who created the coating for Cap'n Crunch. (Yes, there are real people behind those sorts of things.)
- June 4: The MP3 Shuffle - Interesting.
- June 5: Edwin Traisman, American food scientist who developed McDonald's french fries and helped develop Cheez Whiz.
- June 9: Picked up a part time job.
- June 10: Windows Vista Media Center Sucks!
- June 11: My blogging story.
- June 12: Mr. Wizard himself, Don Herbert (think Bill Nigh without the bow tie)
- June 18: What the hell is a FROG room?
- June 19: Details about our first day on the road when we moved, plus a little about attitude.
